Christmas Jones, played by Denise Richards |
Bond travels to a nuclear testing site, posing as a nuclear physicist. There, he meets Dr. Christmas Jones, an American nuclear physicist. Renard is there, and steals a nuclear missile. He also removes the locator card in the missile so the warhead can't be trakced. Bond recovers the card, and flees the compound with Jones.
Bond flies back to Elektra's estate, and tells M that Elektra may not be so innocent. Just as he says that, an alarm goes off, alerting Elektra and the computer analysts that there is a bomb in her oil pipeline. Bond and Christmas rush to a maintenance entrance, and try to disarm the bomb. When they catch up to it, the bomb is missing half the plutonium. Bond decides to let it blow, and have Elektra believe they both died in the explosion.
Renard, played by Robert Carlyle |
When Bond and Christmas "die", Elektra tells M that she had her father killed for using her in her kidnapping. She partnered with Renard, and together plan to use the other half of plutonium to destroy Istanbul.
Will Elektra succeed? Watch The World is Not Enough to find out!
This was the first Bond movie I saw when I was about five years old. Although I didn't know what was going on, I thought the action sequences were awesome. Sophie Marceau did an incredible job as Elektra. She played a quite convincing Elektra. Renard, played by Robert Carlyle, really showed what it means to be a terrorist. He seemed quite crazy. He kidnapped Elektra, but then they both fell in love and conspired to kill Elektra's father. The theme song, played by Garbage, was a good song. One line is, "If we can't have it all, then nobody will." I like this quote, as it inspires me to know that nobody has everything.
